On Tuesday 22nd September, we had a very special visitor to our school. Sergeant David Mc Carney from the Irish Defence Forces presented our school with our national flag. He told how we must care for the flag and next year, on March 15th, we will raise the flag during a ceremony in the school, as part of the 1916 commemoration. 

We learned lots about 1916, sixth class read the Proclamation and we sang the National Anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann. Thank you Sgt. Mc Carney for visiting our school. We had a great day!

On Tuesday 22nd Sept, Garda Declan Moran from Cavan Garda Station came to speak to 5th and 6th classes. 
He spoke to us about Road Safety and reminded us that we should: 
- Always wear a helmet
- Cycle on the left side of the road
- Never cycle on the road without an adult
- Never cycle on the footpath or on the wrong side of the road

He also spoke to us about the dangers that are linked with Halloween. He reminded us that fireworks are not only extremely dangerous, but illegal and definitely not suitable for 5th or 6th class students!
