Easons Spelling Bee County Final took place in our school on Tuesday May 27th. Daniel Rowley from 6th Class took part in this fantastic competition. Over 20 participants from many different schools in Cavan took part and really did each of their schools very proud. Competition was very tough but it was Jason from St. Mary's N.S. Crosserlough who claimed the title of county champion. Jason will represent the county in the Ulster Final at the end of June. Congratulations to all who took part in the competition and best of luck to Jason in the next round. ![]()

![]() We were blessed with good weather for the Junior and Senior Infant tour today! With great excitement we boarded the bus for the Fire Station. We were greeted by two of their friendly firemen who educated us on fire safety. What fun we had with the water hoses! Next we headed for 'Synergy', where we danced all day to 'The Best Song Ever' (One Direction) with the energetic Melissa. Our final destination was the Playground where we picnicked and had lots of fun. Thanks to our teachers and to all who helped out and a big 10 /10 to all the children who did our school proud today, what a fantastic bunch! Check out our Photo Gallery for pictures from the tour. ![]() Ms Corr and Ms Connolly along with Kate and Aaron from sixth class travelled to the Helix today in Dublin, to collect our second Green flag - THE ENERGY FLAG!!! Miss Corr received a letter from An Taisce last week to say that we have been awarded our Energy Green Flag! An inspector from An Taisce visited our school the day before our Easter holidays to inspect all of the work we have been doing for our Energy Flag. She met with 3rd class and asked them about what we have been doing as a school, to reduce our energy consumption. Unfortunately, she did not get to meet with the committee as the students in the senior classes were doing tests. Nevertheless, she read through all of the information in our folder and had a look at our school website. She was very impressed with our Green Schools Committee and how the whole school had worked together to reduce our energy consumption. Well done to everyone involved, it is a fantastic achievement!!!!!! ![]() The annual Schools Relays took place in Shercock on Thursday 8th May. Nineteen teams in total took place in what was a very competitive event. Five teams represented our school. Our Junior Boys easily won their event and collected gold medals. The Junior Girls won silver medals, just pipped by Kingscourt N.S. at the finishing line. The Senior Boys and Senior Mixed Teams both finished fourth in their finals. Overall, a very enjoyable and successful outing in Shercock. Congratulations to all medal winners and to all the boys and girls who competed. |
