Cavan County Branch AGM 2014 The NPC Cavan County Branch AGM will take place on: Wednesday the 1st of October at 8pm in the Cavan Crystal Hotel, Dublin Road, Cavan All parents of primary school children are welcome. Following the Minister for Education and Skills announcement on 11.9.2014 that additional funding of €55,000 is being provided to support the delivery of anti-bullying training sessions for parents in 2014. National Parents Council Primary and National Parents Council Post Primary have organised a number of Anti-Bullying Training sessions throughout the country. The sessions will enable you to support your child regarding issues of bullying and will also inform you about the new Anti Bullying Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools. The session for Cavan is being held in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Wednesday 22nd October. It is advisable to book on line.
Click this link Anti Bullying Training sessions for Parents to find out more. Please note these sessions have been developed specifically for a parent audience and they are therefore not suitable for children. This training is FREE to parents A warm welcome back to school to all new and returning students, parents, teachers and the new Principal Mrs Dolan.
The AGM for the Parents Association(PA) will take place in October. The accounts will be available for inspection and the election of the new committee, chairperson and officers will take place. The date and time will be notified to parents shortly. The personal accident insurance for students for the year has just been renewed. The premium has been paid by the PA and you will receive a note shortly requesting payment for each child. By renewing on line we received a good discount and the cost per child this year is €6. We would urge all parents to pay this promptly as unfortunately for the last few years some parents have not paid. This has meant that the PA has had to fund the shortfall. Should you have any concerns that you feel the PA can help or benefit from please feel free to contact any member of the committee. The Department of Education & Skills is preparing a new digital strategy for schools. This strategy must address new policy opportunities arising from major developments in curricular reform, digital content and new technologies. The Department recognises that technology plays a big part in young people’s lives and that in many cases young people use technology more outside of the classroom. Your views are important to us and we would appreciate if you could participate in one of the focus groups. A number of sessions which are split into (i) parents of Primary school children (ii) parents of Post Primary school children will take place across the country.
