Correspondence from NPC re Internet

13/3/2014

In December 2013, the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte T.D., announced the formation of an Internet Content Governance Advisory Group to consider the emerging issues around internet content and its general impact on the lives of children and young people.

This link Consultation on Internet Content Governance will take you to a survey NPC is carrying out to form the basis of a submission to the Internet Content Advisory Group.

We would be very grateful if you could also circulate this email to parents of children in your child’s school (if you have their email addresses).

The survey will close at noon on Friday the 21st of March.

Many thanks in advance for your time and feedback.

One Direction FundRaiser!

4/3/2014

The Parents Association has managed to get its hands on 2 One Direction Premium Level Tickets for Sunday 25th May in Croke Park.  We are holding a draw for these tickets on Friday 2nd May at the school.  We are hoping if this raffle goes well, that this will be the final fundraising event of the year.

The lines are being sent home with one student per family.

There are 11 lines on each card selling for €2 each.

A full card should be returned with €20 with the option of :

  • the child / seller keeping €2 per full card or
  • Completing their name on the 11th line for free.

Otherwise (an incomplete card), €2 per line should be returned.

There should be a good take up on this raffle. The Parents Association committee will try and sell these tickets at different locations between now and the draw date.  As well as the children selling to family, friends and neighbours, we are also asking Parents to:

  • bring a card to work, sports club, book club, local shop, etc

  • Ask Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Godparents and neighbours to help our if possible

  • Bring a card wherever you can as every little bit really will help.

There are loads of ticket cards available, just ask teacher or committee member for another card if you need one. This is an ideal opportunity to spread the cost of fundraising and we are hoping everybody makes the most of this opportunity.

The date for this year’s NPC Education Conference is Saturday the 14th of June. Once again the venue will be the National College of Ireland, Mayor Street, Dublin 1 (in the IFSC, on the LUAS redline Mayo Square – NCI stop).

All parents of primary school children welcome. Admission is FREE.

We are hoping that by informing you at this early stage, ahead of the official invite for the conference, you will be able to put this date in your diary and pass this date on to all parents of children in your child’s school.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
