The National Parents Council held a seminar in the Cavan Crystal last night on the new anti bullying regulations for primary and secondary schools. Michelle Dyland, Martina Flood, Emer Leddy, Lorna O'Meara and Mary McDwyer attended from the Parents Association. The new procedures issued by the Department of Education must be implemented by all schools this school year, latest date Easter 2014. Bullying is defined as "unwanted negative behaviour, verbal, psychological or physical conducted by an individual or group against another person and which is repeated over time"  The new guidelines are available on the departments website.
The NPC has set up a dedicated helpline to deal with bullying and other issues. The number is 01 887 4477.
